This is been the same argument for as long as I’ve been in law-enforcement. I have found that outside of internal motivation based on something bigger than yourself, like faith for example, people default to giving into their fear. One notable exception… When you can have a victory with some of your peers or someone you supervise that becomes the fuel to continue courageously! I would offer to people that if you don’t find yourself being inspired, motivated, mentored, or led well by your supervisor, then you need to be all of those things to the guy next to you and watch what happens.
