Agreed. In 2014, staff sent me to a train the trainer event. Consider how many officer lives have been saved by this training before we achieved 'below 100'. It is no surprise Paul that you were a part of that.
Keep getting after it Travis. There is much under our control when it comes to the safety of our profession. Accountability, leading with integrity and passion are great places to start!!! All the best for a peaceful, productive, and impactful New Year, John
Brillaint breakdown of what actually drove the numbers down. The fact that assaults are atrecord highs while deaths are historically low creates this weird blind spot where people might think things are getting better when the underlying danger is intensifying. I remember working on operational risk stuff couple years back and seeing similiar patterns where lagging indicators mask lead indicators, basically winning the battle but losing visibility on the war. Feels like the profession needs ot be celebrating the Below 100 win while doubling down on whatever comes next for officer assaults.
I am honored to have played a part in this journey. Congratulations to you and the entire group who have worked tirelessly for this moment!

It wasn't just seatbelts. Every year was a victory of lives saved, both of officers and suspects. It's time for a victory lap Dr. Travis Yates!
